… and my cardreader has given up so I couldn’t upload the photos I had made of our paintings. But luckily Charlie’s card can still be read and so we did photos of her paintings again:
EDIT:
Charlie is on her way to the airport now
and I’m distracting myself by having the cardreader repaired and uploading a few more photos.
Here are my paintings:
We’ll miss you so much Charlie!
Come back very soon! xxx
Day 6: Apologies
Nette says we should apologise for not posting yesterday – frankly I was too busy enjoying myself and I’m not apologising for that!!!!!!!!
In less than an hour we need to leave for the airport so that I can catch my flight back to Blighty. My artwork is finished – well I may play with one of the pieces when I get back. Why is it that when time is short supply ‘m at my most creative. Story of my life.
I can’t think straight so I am passing this over to Nette…….
Day 4: Procrastination
Well not so much that as distractions every which way. The carnival meant that we didn’t make a start on things until late in the day. Nette decided how she wanted to change her painting and as I type ahead of the days end I am wondering what I’m going to do with mine. I still have the feeling that anything less than perfect is a waste. Perhaps I should take a leaf from the revellers’ book and eat, drink and be merry!
As I’m typing the next paragraph it can only mean that we are finished for the evening. I changed the purple to a bronze , which balances far better. The structure paint is very heavy so has pulled the canvas. This can be adjusted at the end so I am not too worried by this.
I have a green piece to add to this as the second square and I know the shade of red that I will get at boesner tomorrow to complete the set. I now need to decide on the texture it should have.
Nette has been productive with her evening. Progression has been made with yesterday’s piece.

Nette's work in progress
The photo has been taken while the patina was still taking effect so we are still awaiting the final result! We’ll keep you posted!
Here are some more pictures of our evening at the Esszimmertisch!
The following are by Nette:
Me ‘at work’:
As I finish this post off for the evening I can’t help but look longingly at the work area. Another cup of coffee and away I go. The night is still young!
Day 3: Paint everywhere
Actually we would have loved to blog properly tonight but Charlie is already asleep and leaves me alone with the photos – which are mostly not of our art (as we’ve ben covered with paint and didn’t want to ruin Charlie’s new camera). Most photos we took today are form our dinner at the Korean restaurant.
Today’s paintings aren’t finished yet anyway. So here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
Charlie in the atelier (formerly our dining room) thinking hard about what to do next as she wasn’t content with the way the purple extra pastous acrylics had come out…
Nette experimenting with tape on the half wet paint.
Close up of the structures that resulted from that.
More to come as soon as we have digested the Bulgogi and survived women’s carnival tomorrow.
Day 2: Confronting fears
Our first hurdle was dealing with pain thresholds at the osteopath. For Charlie this meant watching Nette wince as she was manipulated into various shapes in the name of medicine. As one can imagine this experience was very traumatising for Charlie but Nette dealt with it very well.
After this cracking experience we settled our nerves with a trip to the art shop. However this proved unsuccessful as Charlie almost passed out with all the excitement. Nette on the other hand remained level headed and could see that further assistance would be needed to keep both parties reasonably calm.
Help came in the form of lunch at the sushi bar followed by downtime back at the apartment. Following the osteopath’s orders Nette avoided painting today, so Charlie completed yesterday’s experiments. She is still trying to battle with paint and come to an understanding that it won’t work the same way as pen and ink. No matter how much she swears at it.
Here are the results (Royaume uni: 2 paintings):
Day 1: Best intentions.
With all the will and enthusiasm in the world we still didn’t get round to starting our paintings until almost midnight of the first day. We did however manage to record some videos on another project.
With this behind us, a good meal in our stomachs and some virtual Marihuana (courtesy: Saving Grace – see video at the bottom) we have hijacked den Esszimmertisch for the coming week. Gone is the Jakkolo and any civilised meals.
We have broken or barren period by letting go and relaxing. Here’s the first result from Nette and some impressions of the artists working.
Nette: Why didn’t I think of this before?
Nette priming the canvas.
Nette: We both agree this is definetly me!
The nightly ateiler.
Charlie: the wax was supposed to go on my legs not on the canvas.
Charlie: the finishing touches to the base.

Charlie discovering the boesner catalogue
As some of you might have heard already, my friend Charlie is coming here soon for a painting week. We’ve already painted last time she was here. Well, she painted after I had introduced her to work with metal colors, rust an patina.
Unfortunately I didn’t make photos while she was painting but only while she was discovering the boesner-catalogue.
Her painting is now hanging in our living room:

When my friends Mer and Joolz were here a few months later, they also painted here:

The results have remained here with us too:

Any visitor in our flat is welcome to paint here with me too!
